We’ve recently addressed the trope of Lonely Chair; today, we examine the Dilapidated Piano. The piano, when it ceases to function as an instrument of music, acts as a beacon to vandals, the results of whose activities serve the urbex photographer in presenting scenes of pathos and despair.
Presented below is a typical example of the trope. A piano lays spent on a parochial school stage as sunlight streams onto the scene through a hole in the roof.
This is probably stands as my favorite of your piano shots.

Thanks! If you’ve not noticed, I’m starting off this blog with a heaping helping of “best-of” shots, interspersed with new stuff. Maybe people will think I’m better than I am.

HA! I’m doing pretty much the same myself 😉

Good angle for the photo. I don’t know if you could have picked a better place to stand for the shot. That beam of light is fortunately placed as well. I agree with Mahencha, one of my favorites.

Thanks! This was all set up perfectly. All I had to do was take the shot.
