Pripyat was built concurrently with the Chernobyl power plant as a company town; it would house mostly the plant workers and their families. Today, it is the largest abandoned city in the Exclusion Zone, and the most visited by tourists. It is a rare sight to see an entire town slowly returning to nature and dust, and one I was eager to photograph. The next couple posts will deal (mostly) with this town at the heart of the Zone.
I believe this was the city hall, and also where the emergency command center was set up in the wake of the disaster.
That tree growing out of the steps is gnarly. Great color work in the city hall shot too!

I was lukewarm on that shot until IP saw it and gave me a thumbs up, so o guess it doesn’t suck.
