Pittsburgh lays at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers which, in turn, forms the Ohio. The heavily built-up downtown sits right at the tip of the spear of land formed by this confluence, and is surrounded by fairly hilly terrain, particularly to the south. All this means that certain vantage points around town give you the kind of dramatic shots of the cityscape you’d normally need a drone for. The first of these was from the back deck of our airBnB, which had sold us on the promise of million dollar views. I think it delivered! The weather was rough when we arrived in town late at night, but this was the snowy view of downtown that greeted us.
